Grand Canyon Skywalk Tours from Las Vegas, NV

I'm optimistic that we are on the verge of a post-COVID world. But the transition will take time, specifically as it relates to our Grand Canyon tours to the West Rim (a/k/a Skywalk).

COVID made us pause a number of tours. Slowly but surely, more are coming back online. Further, frequency in terms of departure times and days is ramping up. Thus for the NEAR foreseeable future, seats will continue to be limited.

It pays to be aware of this supply/demand dynamic, and even more so as I anticipate a surge of travelers visiting Las Vegas and wanting Grand Canyon tours. Best advice is to book ASAP and online. You're covered if you can't make it as we offer a 100% money back refund if cancelled within 48 hours of departure time.

Helicopter tours that include the Skywalk have been drastically reduced. Right now, we are down to one chopper a day. I expect this to increase. And thank goodness as this is a terrific package. First, it takes off from the Vegas Strip and includes a VIP Skywalk ticket, which means you get to cut to the front of the line (e.g. no waiting!). Click here for flight times and availability.

I'm a huge fan of the Skywalk airplane tour. Takes off from Boulder City, a suburb of Las Vegas and includes free hotel transfers. The plan is an 18-seat deHavilland Twin Otter. It's customized and features oversized windows and wings attached to the top of the cabin so your view's unobstructed. Comes with a VIP Skywalk ticket. The best part is you get up to 4 hours on the ground to explore the top of the Rim. Book it here.

The Skywalk bus tour is the ultimate in value. Includes free hotel transfers, lunch and a VIP Skywalk ticket. You get about the same amount of the time of the ground that the airplane tour offers. Keep in mind that unlike the airplane tour, which departs throughout the day, the bus tour leaves once a day in the a.m. and comes back around 8 p.m. so you'll have to block out an entire day to do it.

Is the Skywalk worth doing? Heck yes! It's a horseshoe cantilevered all-glass platform that lets you walk 70+ feet over the edge until you're standing some 4,000 feet over the bottom. It's an incredible thrill and the views are spectacular. You can't bring a cell phone or camera onto the Skywalk (they have secure lockers for free) but there are professional photogs that will snap photos of you and your group.

There are a couple of lookout points that you'll want to check out. Specifically, you'll want to experience Eagle Point and Guano Point. Eagle is just south of the Skywalk and you'll spot it quickly as that's where everyone's taking selfies. Guano, on the other hand, requires hopping on the free shuttle and going north. It's definitely worth the effort and is the site of an old Guano Mine. Then there's Hualapai Ranch, which re-creates a Old West town replete with live shoot-out shows, food kiosks, horses and more (kids AND adults love it!)

Remember, the Skywalk and the West Rim are situated on Hualapai tribal lands so please be respectful as they have full jurisdiction over how things go on tribal lands, which in this case is over 100,000 acres. That in mind, pack your daypack and get on over here. The Skywalk is the perfect day trip from Vegas and the Western vibe you get here is real, authentic and welcoming.
